Aluminium
Aluminum, classified as a non-ferrous metal, is divided into wrought and cast materials. Wrought aluminum alloys are identified by 4-digit numbers. Different alloying elements significantly change mechanical properties like strength and workability.

ㆍ1000 Series (Pure Aluminum)

99% Al minimum. Excellent workability and conductivity but low strength. Non-heat treatable.

ㆍ2000 Series (Al-Cu-Mg)

Added Copper for high strength. Includes Duralumin (A2017). High mechanical properties but low corrosion resistance and weldability.

ㆍ3000 Series (Al-Mn)

Added Manganese for higher strength than pure Al. Used in cans and architectural materials like A3003.

ㆍ4000 Series (Al-Si)

Added Silicon for low thermal expansion and wear resistance. Used for welding fillers and heat-resistant parts.

ㆍ5000 Series (Al-Mg)

Added Magnesium. Strongest non-heat treatable alloy with excellent weldability. A5052 is representative.

ㆍ6000 Series (Al-Mg-Si)

Structural alloy with good strength and corrosion resistance. Popular for extrusions and mechanical joints.

ㆍ7000 Series (Al-Zn-Mg)

Added Zinc and Magnesium. Highest strength among Al alloys. Includes A7075 (Extra Super Duralumin) for aerospace applications.
